Dr. Smith is a life-long Texan, a graduate of Duke University and the University of Texas, and has been a member of the Surgical Associates of Austin since 1990.

Dr. Smith has focused his practice primarily on diseases of the breast, and encourages preventative aspects of care. He prioritizes coordination of care, networking, and support for his patients. He is board certified in general surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He has received a number of honors including election into Alpha Omega Alpha in 1987. He served as Chairman of Surgery at St. David’s from 2007 to 2009.
He is a member of the American Society of Breast Disease, the Travis County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association.
Dr. Smith speaks conversational Spanish and German, and he enjoys incorporating his Christian faith into his practice when appropriate. He and wife, also a practicing physician, have a son and daughter. He enjoys running, fitness, family, and he has a passion to apply 21st century information technology for the benefit of his patients.
