Dr. Shruti Hegde
M.D.
Dr. Shruti Hegde is a board-certified general surgeon at Surgical Associates of Austin, specializing in foregut (treatment of conditions involving the esophagus, reflux, hiatal hernias, and the stomach) and minimally invasive general surgery. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care utilizing advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques to ensure optimal outcomes and faster recovery for her patients.
Dr. Hegde grew up in Plano, Texas, and attended Austin College for undergraduate studies. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She then completed her general surgery residency at UT Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital, followed by a specialized advanced GI/foregut fellowship at The Oregon Clinic/Providence Portland Medical Center.
In her practice, Dr. Hegde focuses on the comprehensive management of foregut disease, with specific clinical interests in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), paraesophageal hernias, and esophageal motility disorders. Beyond her clinical work, she is highly interested in endoscopic surgery and the emerging use of artificial intelligence in both surgical simulation and improving clinical efficiency.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Hegde leads an active lifestyle with her husband and two kids. She enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors through hiking and paddleboarding, and Indian classical dance.
